Interview with Wendi Zwaduk

Tricia: Today, it’s my pleasure to introduce Wendi Zwaduk, author of Best I Ever Had. Thanks for joining us, Wendi. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Wendi: I like all things blue, I laugh too loud and have a lot of fun. People call me fun-sized because I’m short. I like animals more than a lot of people and would rather lose myself in my laptop rather than have to deal with traffic. I like being a little different.

Tricia: When did you begin writing?

Wendi: More than seven years ago. I got a book by a friend and I didn’t like the ending. Now it was her book, so I couldn’t say, change this ending. But I let my mind wander as to how I’d have changed it. Then I read a racing novella and that one lacked a lot of sports details. I also didn’t like that ending. I saw the characters much hotter, too. So, I decided to write my own stories and I haven’t looked back.

Tricia: Describe your writing process. Do you plot or write by the seat of your pants? When and where do you write?

Wendi: I tend to write by the seat of my pants. When I plot, the plot changes. Always. But I do keep notebooks with me at almost all times. If I don’t have one of those, I have my phone and Google docs. But I’m always writing down what might be the next part of the story. Or what might be the next story. I write wherever I am and usually whenever the idea strikes. A lot of times that happens AFTER I turn off the laptop. J I’m known to write chunks of stories long hand.

Tricia: Can you tell us about your most recent release?

Wendi: Best I Ever Had started out as a flash fiction piece. I wrote it short and dirty for the blog. Then I decided to make it a tad longer for a free read at Whipped Cream reviews. It went over quite well there, but I knew I wanted to make it longer. I knew there was more under the surface for this book. So, I let it percolate until Quint showed up. Then I wrote like a mad woman. I’m glad I did. I like having Quint in the story.

Tricia: What projects are you currently working on?

Wendi: I’m currently writing a story about a love witch! She’s unlucky at love when she’s the one trying to fall in love, but she’s great at getting couples together. He doesn’t buy into magic or any of her potions, but there’s something about her that draws him to her. I love it.

Tricia: What advice would you offer to new or aspiring authors?

Wendi: Write and don’t give up, but don’t be afraid to ask for help. Crit partners are invaluable. Another set of eyes will always be helpful because they will see the things you don’t—good and bad. Find someone you trust who isn’t your best friend or mom and have them help you. Then thicken your skin. Reviews can be great and really painful. Be prepared. But it is totally worth the ride when you write. Never give up!

Here’s a little bit more about me:

Like spicy romance? So do I! Come along on this journey with me.

I’ve always dreamt of writing the stories in my head. Tall, dark, and handsome heroes are my favorites, as long as he has an independent woman keeping him in line. I love playing with words and letting the characters run wild.

NASCAR, Ohio farmland, dirt racing, animals and second chance romance all feature prominently in my books. I also write under the pen name of Megan Slayer. I’m published with Total-E-Bound, Resplendence Publishing, Changeling Press, Liquid Silver Books, Turquoise Morning Press, Decadent Publishing and The Wild Rose Press. Come join me for this fantastic journey!

If you like my work, tell your friends and email me. I love hearing from readers!

The objective—keep her safe. No one said anything about falling in love.

All she wanted was a pint of ice cream, not to be a witness to a double murder. Good thing Emma’s got not one, but two, sexy men willing to keep her safe. As long as she can keep her hands to herself.

Sam’s mission? To find the man responsible for the murder. He’s not going to rest until the streets are safe, even if it means having his best friend guard his best girl. It’s the best option, right?

Quint never dreamed he’d be attracted to his best friend’s lover…and his best friend. He’s got to keep his hands to himself all while figuring out what he wants from life, even if love equals Emma and Sam in Quint’s bed.

Is love in the cards or are they going to go up in flames before they get started?
