Interview with Aubrey Brown

Today’s guest is Aubrey Brown, author of the steamy novel, Cursed.

Tricia: Welcome, Aubrey. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Aubrey: I am an erotica novelist. This particular book is my very first independent publishing. I normally publish with Siren Book-Strand, but I wanted to try my hand at self-publishing! Here is the link for purchasing my works on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00C9D1JHO

Tricia: When did you begin writing?

Aubrey: I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I have always had a deep passion for the written word.

Tricia: Describe your writing process. Do you plot or write by the seat of your pants? When and where do you write?

Aubrey:  I write on the fly. I come up with an idea, or I write for a submission’s call, and I build a story and characters around that. I write mostly late at night after my husband, and son has gone to sleep, or if I am on a deadline, I write as much and as quickly as I possibly can. I have a lazy boy, a laptop, and ice water, which bring me through.

Tricia: Can you tell us about your most recent release?
Aubrey: Cursed, is an erotic/paranormal novel that just released on Amazon and Smashwords on June 21st! So far, I have seen a great response. Facebook was a wonderful promotional tool to me on this book.

Tricia: How did you get the idea for the book?
Aubrey: My Facebook followers, said that you never really see any well-written ghost erotica. I saw that statement and took up the challenge. I am currently waiting for my publishing house to release, Hunger, in August, so I had some time.

Tricia: If you could recommend just one of your books to my readers, which book would you choose?

Aubrey: My last novel, Ravenous. It is an exciting historical/paranormal, vampire erotica. The novel is well-written and getting five-star reviews. Of all your characters, which one is your favorite? Why? I love, Gabriel. He is a Jane Austien brooding vampire that is sexy as hell. He brings out the best and naughtiness within his heroine.

Tricia: What was the most challenging aspect of writing your book?
Aubrey: Finishing. I get to know these characters, and they become special to me. It’s hard to spend so much time in development and then just let them go. Oh, and meeting deadlines. Deadlines are the death of me.

Tricia
: What would you like to tell us about your book or your writing that someone wouldn’t discover during a casual review of your blurb or website?
Aubrey: The book is very hot and steamy. The sex scenes are extremely graphic, but the ending is very sweet, and so fulfilling that you feel as if you had the right amount of balance.

Tricia: What is your primary goal as an author?
Aubrey: To inspire and entertain my readers. I want them to feel as if they are in the book living alongside these people.

Tricia: Which authors have inspired your writing?

Aubrey: Stephen King and Julia Quinn

Tricia: What projects are you currently working on?

Aubrey: I am currently working on, Hunger, which will release in August, in all the usual places. Crave, the third installment will be available in October, and then lastly my holiday novel, Dicker, will come in November!

Tricia: What advice would you offer to new or aspiring authors?
Aubrey: Never give up! Everyone gets rejection letters. Keep your faith and believe in your work. If you lose faith, the publisher will see that and move passed you.

About the Author:

Aubrey Brown was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has had a passion for writing for as long as she can remember. The first book she read, outside of a school assignment, was a pilfered romance from her mother’s collection. And she has been addicted to the written word ever since. She is married to her high school sweetheart and has one incredible son. She started writing to tell fabulous stories to those who want to read something different from the average erotica. She is a firm believer there is a happily ever after for anyone who has the courage and conviction to reach for it.
