The Teacher’s Heart
Growing Strong Series Book 4
By Michel Prince
There’s no way Amanda Butler would ever let herself get attached to anyone. Sure, sex is fun, but love is for suckers. Her parents taught her that. She has her friends, a job she loves, and lots of fun flings. Everything she thinks she wants.
Ashton Gilmore is at a crossroads when he meets Amanda. She’s every thing he’s ever wanted in a real relationship, but she might have too much baggage for even this hot political fixer to handle.
For the past few years the women of Growing Strong Montessori have been discovering love they’d never thought possible. Sans one, Mandy who has spent the last few years taking one hit after another and can’t see Ashton Gilmore as anything more than a bump in the road.
Ashton has to find a way to teach Mandy that love exists, before she gives up on the concept all together.
Genre: Contemporary Romance
My Review: Mandy hides behind sexual innuendo and smart ass comments. Those who know her well would say she is difficult, but worth it. Ash can see the real Mandy, but does he have time to wait for her to grow up emotionally? After being Karen’s sidekick and cover for years, Ash is ready for a life of his own. He is searching for his own identity beyond Karen’s political campaign, and though Mandy has grown on him, there’s only so much of her pushing him away that he can take.
Mandy is probably the most prickly character out of all the Growing Strong Mafia characters. We’ve learned from previous books that she’s quick-witted and intelligent, always ready with a smart ass quip. We also know she is fiercely loyal to her friends. As a teacher, we know she has a nurturing side, but outside the classroom, Mandy is a rough, tough-talking, smart-ass mess. People only see the side of Mandy that she wants them to see – until Ash comes along.
The Teacher’s Heart is a funny, sexy, emotionally turbulent ending to the Growing Strong Series. It brings new surprises, crazy twists, and a satisfying conclusion to the series as a whole. I loved this book, but I’m sorry to see the series come to an end. I’m going to miss these characters, but they will always have a place on my Kindle and in my heart. This is a series I could read again and again, and never get tired of. Five stars just isn’t enough. I’d definitely give it more if I could.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
